Why it matters
The gaps that surface at IGCSE were created years earlier.
By the time a student is losing marks in IGCSE Chemistry, the cause is usually not chemistry. It is arithmetic fluency, proportional reasoning or algebraic manipulation that was never properly bedded in.
PYP is inquiry-led and broad by design, which suits curious children and leaves some of them without the procedural fluency the later years quietly assume. We teach both — the reasoning the programme asks for, and the fluency it does not drill.
Small classes matter more here than anywhere. A confused nine-year-old rarely says so.
